Puerto Vallarta deputies propose 100% water bill discounts
Local deputies in Jalisco have proposed a legislative initiative to grant 100% discounts on water and sewage bills to families affected by service failures in Puerto Vallarta. The proposal, presented by PVEM deputy Yussara Canales González, seeks to cover both billed amounts and 100% of surcharges and execution costs.
The initiative addresses widespread issues reported throughout 2026, including water shortages, intermittent supply, turbid water, leaks, and sewage overflows. Affected areas documented include Versalles, Fovissste 100, Zona Romántica, Floresta, Tamarindos, Bobadilla, Las Juntas, El Remance, and Emiliano Zapata, among others.
Canales González argued that residents should not pay for deficient services, stating, “What cannot happen is that the water fails, the drainage fails, but the bill never fails.” The proposal urges municipal authorities and Seapal Vallarta to resolve infrastructure issues and guarantee access to clean, affordable, and reliable water.
