Puerto Vallarta experiences orange sunrise and upcoming lunar eclipse

Puerto Vallarta and the Banderas Bay region have recently experienced significant celestial and atmospheric displays. A rare meteorological phenomenon recently transformed the morning sky into an intense orange hue. This visual event was caused by the interaction of sunlight with mid-level clouds and humidity, which filtered out shorter wavelengths like blue and violet, leaving only warm tones to illuminate the Pacific waters and the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains.

Additionally, a partial lunar eclipse is scheduled to occur on the night of Thursday, August 27. The event is expected to begin at 7:23 pm Central Time, with the partial phase starting at 8:33 pm. At the peak of the eclipse at 10:12 pm, approximately 96.2% of the Moon’s surface will be covered by Earth’s umbral shadow. This may result in a dusky reddish-orange appearance, similar to a Blood Moon, though it remains technically a partial eclipse. The entire process is expected to conclude by 1:01 am on Friday, August 28.
