Puerto Vallarta faces criticism over abandoned public works
The municipal government of Puerto Vallarta is facing significant backlash from citizens and political figures due to multiple abandoned public works projects.
In the city center, the renovation of the municipal presidency's office has stalled despite previous announcements of modernization efforts. The deterioration of the facilities has forced the relocation of official meetings and administrative tasks to provisional sites, leading to accusations of mismanagement of public resources.
Additionally, infrastructure projects in residential areas have left streets impassable. In the Idipe housing unit, work on Rufino Tamayo Street was halted two weeks after heavy machinery had already dismantled the road and sanitary networks, leaving dangerous pits that have caused residents to fall. Similar delays have been reported in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, where cobblestone and sidewalk repairs have remained unfinished for eight months.
