Puerto Vallarta Mayor denies PVEM party split

Luis Ernesto Munguía González, the mayor of Puerto Vallarta, has denied reports of internal divisions within the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) municipal caucus. The rumors of a rift emerged following a suspended council session on Friday, September 11.

The alleged disagreements reportedly stem from a municipal austerity plan. Some council members suggested reducing current spending by cutting advisors and eliminating operational management positions to redirect funds toward public works.

Munguía González emphasized that there is full coordination and consensus within the party, stating that dialogue with council members remains constant. He noted that proposals for administrative and nominal restructuring are still in the budgetary evaluation phase and have not received an official municipal assembly ruling.
