Puerto Vallarta to host inaugural Crocodile Festival

Puerto Vallarta will host its first Crocodile Festival on Saturday, August 22, at the Estero El Salado State Park. Organized by the Secretariat of Environment and Territorial Development (SEMADET), the event coincides with National Crocodile Day, observed on August 23.

The festival aims to promote the conservation of the American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) and foster responsible coexistence between humans and wildlife. Activities scheduled from 9:00 to 13:00 include informative stands from over 15 institutions, scientific and educational exhibitions, safety and prevention workshops, and guided or self-guided tours through the park's interpretive trails. The event will also feature cultural activities, such as a collective plastic arts project.
