Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt secure final Big 8 spots in LNB

The Liga Nacional de Básquetbol has finalized its Big 8 lineup for the Clausura tournament following the Play In stage. Teams from the Southern Conference dominated the series, with both Puerto Varas Basket and Puerto Montt Básquet securing their spots by winning their respective matchups 2-0.

Puerto Varas Basket advanced after defeating Universidad Católica, clinching the series with a narrow 76-75 victory in their second game. Jonathan Ocasio was named MVP of that match, recording 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. The series also marked the final local game for national guard Marcelo Pérez before he moves to play abroad.

Puerto Montt Básquet secured its position by overcoming CSD Colo Colo. American player Kai Mitchell-Walkins earned MVP honors for the decisive game, contributing 33 points and 16 rebounds, including a game-winning shot.

The final eight teams competing in the postseason are Español de Osorno, Colegio Los Leones de Quilpué, Club Deportivo Valdivia, Universidad de Concepción, ABA Ancud, Municipal Puente Alto, Puerto Montt Básquet, and Puerto Varas Basket. The playoffs are scheduled to begin on September 12.
