Puertollano announces tax cuts and Solaria data center project

The Mayor of Puertollano, Miguel Ángel Ruiz, has announced several economic and industrial developments for the city, including a significant reduction in the Property Tax (IBI). If approved, the urban IBI rate would drop to 0.599%, representing a cumulative reduction of over 9.1% since 2023. The city estimates this tax cut will result in an annual revenue loss of approximately 1.1 million euros, though officials state municipal services will not be affected.

In industrial news, Solaria is moving forward with a major data center project in the La Nava industrial park. The project involves an initial investment exceeding 150 million euros and is expected to create 90 direct jobs in its first phase. The facility will initially have a capacity of 40 megawatts, with potential future expansions up to 100 megawatts. The project is slated to become operational by the end of 2027. To address environmental concerns, the center will utilize advanced cooling technology designed to minimize water consumption.
