Puertollano celebrates patron saint festivities with procession and fireworks
The city of Puertollano concluded its September festivities with a large-scale religious procession and a fireworks display honoring its patron saint, the Virgen de Gracia.
Thousands of people participated in the procession, which is noted as one of the most crowded religious parades in Castilla-La Mancha. The event featured floral carpets, music from local bands, and an escort of devotees and authorities, including Mayor Miguel Ángel Ruiz. The procession moved through decorated streets such as Calzada and Aduana.
The celebrations ended with a fifteen-minute fireworks show at the ‘María Luisa Cabañero’ complex, utilizing over 175 kilograms of gunpowder. This year’s display included new low-level pyrotechnics such as figures and volcanoes. A significant security operation involving local and national police, the Civil Guard, and emergency services was in place to manage the crowds and ensure safety.
