Puertollano hosts inclusive sports trophy and heritage cycling event
Puertollano hosted two distinct community events focused on inclusion and local heritage. The fifth edition of the Ciudad de Puertollano Inclusive Trophy took place at the Santiago Cañizares municipal pavilion, featuring wheelchair basketball matches between CD BSR Puertollano, CB Raíces Opticlass Móstoles, and BSR Alcalá. The local team, BSR Puertollano, secured the tournament victory.
Separately, the fourteenth edition of the Puertollano Bicycle Day saw over one thousand participants in a four-kilometer urban route. Organized by the Club Cicloturista Caminos y Cañadas, the event included a solidarity initiative to raise funds for the restoration of the Cabezarrubias del Puerto Station. The club is advocating for the preservation of the historic Puertollano-Peñarroya railway route to consolidate it as the Vía Verde del Valle de Alcudia. Mayor Miguel Ángel Ruiz expressed the city's commitment to supporting these conservation efforts.
