Puertollano Mayor and two councilors summoned to testify in harassment case
The Mayor of Puertollano, Miguel Ángel Ruiz, and two councilors, José Antonio Barba and Javier Trujillo, have been summoned to testify as investigated parties in a judicial case regarding alleged workplace harassment. The investigation follows a criminal complaint filed by a municipal official in the Urbanism department, who claims she was subjected to a “grave persecution” and systematic vexatious behavior intended to force her to leave her position.
Ruiz has denied all accusations, maintaining that his actions represent the “normal demand for rigor” expected of public officials. He has expressed his intention to continue as a candidate for the PP in the 2027 municipal elections. The case also involves controversies regarding the use of municipal facilities, specifically allegations concerning the unauthorized use of a municipal site for private parking.
Political tensions have escalated, with the PSOE demanding the resignation of the mayor and questioning the regional leadership of the PP for its perceived lack of action regarding the investigation.
