Puglia awards €90,000 to DOP/IGP consortia and offers free olive seedlings
The regional government of Puglia approved a public notice allocating €90,000 to support the 22 local DOP and IGP consortia. The fund, part of the 2024‑2026 promotion programme, will back activities that spread knowledge, promote, valorise and protect certified agro‑food products. Regional Agriculture and Rural Development Councilor Francesco Paolicelli said the consortia are “one of the most effective tools to strengthen the competitiveness of our quality productions”.
Meanwhile the municipality of Nardò revived its “PiantiamOli!” initiative, granting free Leccino olive seedlings to qualified farmers, landowners and citizens. Applicants can receive between 25 and 290 trees, with submissions due by 21 August. The scheme aims to rebuild the olive‑tree landscape damaged by Xylella fastidiosa, according to Agriculture Councilor Pierpaolo Giuri.
