Puglia Bishops Conference holds ordinary assembly in Molfetta

The Puglia Bishops Conference held its ordinary assembly on September 10 and 11, 2026, at the Pontificio Seminario Regionale ‘Pio XI’ in Molfetta. Led by President Giuseppe Satriano, the Archbishop of Bari-Bitonto, the assembly addressed several key regional and ecclesiastical matters.

One major topic was the ‘Spaces dedicated to sport in the oratory context’ call for proposals from the Department for Sport of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. To facilitate community participation, a regional commission was established, including representatives from various dioceses and youth pastoral leaders.

The bishops also met with Bernardo Capozzolo, the new Lieutenant of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, to discuss the institution’s role in supporting charitable and social works in the Holy Land. Additionally, the assembly focused on the care and formation of priests, addressing the challenges of preparing clergy for a changing society and church.
