Puglia cathedrals to host large-scale musical performance

The ‘Tra Cielo e Terra. Choral Project’ will present ‘Musica senza confini: dalla sofferenza alla speranza’ on September 11 and 12. The double event will take place at the San Sabino Cathedral in Bari and the Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral in Conversano.

The performances will feature Karl Jenkins’ ‘Stabat Mater’, a work for soloists, choir, and orchestra. The production involves over 150 artists, including three choirs and an orchestra directed by Maestro Sebastiano Giotta. Featured performers include mezzo-soprano Francesca Ruospo, singer and actress Mira Awad, and Emilio Solfrizzi as a reciter.

The musical journey utilizes lyrics from the works of David Maria Turoldo and aims to create a dialogue between different cultures and sensitivities. The project includes an immersive experience with video mapping to blend light, visual art, and music.
