Puglia emerges as a leading Italian region for family tourism

Puglia has been identified as one of Italy's leading regions for family-oriented tourism, alongside Emilia-Romagna, Trentino Alto Adige, and Abruzzo. According to research by Jfc, the family tourism segment is a significant driver of the Italian market, with an estimated value of 15.56 billion euros this year. Projections suggest that by 2026, 72.1% of families with children will take at least one vacation, with average summer spending increasing by 6.7% compared to last year.

Despite the market's growth, challenges remain. Approximately 27.9% of families report being unable to take vacations, primarily due to economic constraints. Other significant barriers include a lack of child-friendly services in accommodations, tourist locations, and restaurants.

In response to the demand for authentic experiences, there is a growing interest in alternative destinations such as educational farms in the Gargano area. These farms offer sensory and pedagogical value by allowing children to engage directly with nature and agricultural processes, such as milk production and seasonal harvesting, providing a contrast to urban environments.
