Puglia Region implements new tourism, agriculture, and infrastructure policies

The Puglia Region has implemented several strategic measures to support its local economy, focusing on tourism, agriculture, and infrastructure.

To facilitate the regularization of short-term and tourist rentals, the regional government has extended the deadline for submitting SCIA and CIA notifications to December 31, 2026. This extension aims to resolve procedural difficulties caused by varying digital platforms used by different municipalities and to allow operators more time to comply with regulations.

In the agricultural sector, the ‘Filiere di Puglia’ strategy has been reinforced with 40 million euros in funding. The initiative seeks to increase the value of regional agribusiness by promoting local processing, logistics, and innovation, moving beyond mere production to capture more value within the territory. Agriculture currently accounts for approximately 6% of the regional GDP.

Additionally, the region is investing in sustainable mobility through its cycling network. New interventions worth 26.7 million euros are being directed toward the management and maintenance of existing cycling routes, such as the Ciclovia dell'Acquedotto Pugliese and the Ciclovia Adriatica, to foster slow tourism and regional connectivity.

Regarding healthcare, Governor Antonio Decaro has requested further verification of costs before approving new staff hires. While local health authorities have requested approximately 1,200 new positions to maintain the system, the administration is evaluating the budgetary impact of contract adjustments and provincial distribution.
