Puglia hosts exhibitions on Marian traditions and classical art

Several art exhibitions are currently highlighting the cultural and spiritual heritage of Puglia, Italy. At Palazzo Starita, the itinerant exhibition ‘Statue della Madonna in Puglia’ has launched. This project features ten statues of the Madonna from various Puglian territories, such as the Madonna dell’Incoronata and Madonna Finibus Terrae. The exhibition aims to promote local Marian traditions while emphasizing ecological awareness and social inclusion, as the artworks are created from repurposed materials through art therapy workshops involving vulnerable individuals. The tour is intended to travel from Puglia to Chicago.

Simultaneously, the exhibition ‘Contaminazioni: Incursioni sul Classico’ is nearing its conclusion at the Palazzo delle Arti Beltrani in Trani. Sponsored by the Puglia Region, this showcase features a dialogue between contemporary art and design with classical history. Designer Sergio Azzellino utilizes Apulian ceramic traditions to explore modern themes, including technology and social issues, integrating these works with the permanent museum collections.
