Puglia hosts historic reenactments in Conversano and Alberobello
From August 7‑9, the town of Conversano in Puglia will stage the eleventh edition of “Le Notti della Contea”, a historic reenactment featuring more than 300 participants, a multi‑era parade and a programme centred on the theme “Women and Power”. The event includes performances, conferences, workshops and a historic costume contest, with actors such as Claudio Castrogiovanni as Count Giangirolamo II Acquaviva d’Aragona and Celeste Savino as Countess Isabella Filomarino.
Later in the month, Alberobello will host the 20th edition of “La Notte dei Briganti”, part of the UNESCO trulli‑heritage celebrations. The outdoor spectacle recreates 19th‑century brigandage across four evenings (August 8, 9, 15 and 16) on a forest path, supported by the Ministry of Culture and the municipality. Professional actor Ernesto D’Argenio, known from the Netflix series “Briganti”, will appear as Cosimo Giordano. Both festivals aim to attract visitors and promote cultural tourism in the region.
