Puglia Imperiale launches electric bike-sharing network

The STEP – Puglia Imperiale Experience Pass project has officially launched an electric bike-sharing service across 13 municipalities in the Puglia Imperiale region. Promoted by the Patto Territoriale per l’Occupazione Nord Barese/Ofantino, the initiative aims to create a sustainable mobility network connecting coastal areas to the Murgia hinterland.

The fleet consists of 200 pedal-assist bicycles, including 85 e-city bikes and 115 electric mountain bikes. The service utilizes a hybrid infrastructure of 20 fixed stations and over 27 virtual stations, which can be accessed via a dedicated digital platform and app. The app integrates travel planning, ticket purchases, and parking reservations.

The participating municipalities include Andria, Barletta, Bisceglie, Canosa di Puglia, Corato, Margherita di Savoia, Minervino Murge, Ruvo di Puglia, San Ferdinando di Puglia, Spinazzola, Terlizzi, Trani, and Trinitapoli. The first physical station was inaugurated in Margherita di Savoia, with service activation in other towns proceeding progressively in coordination with local administrations.
