Puglia President Decaro defends regional healthcare and discusses coalition future

Puglia Regional President Antonio Decaro has responded to criticisms from the center-right regarding the management of the regional healthcare system. Addressing issues such as deficits, waiting lists, staff shortages, and the implementation of Community Houses, Decaro accused political opponents of attempting to undermine the healthcare system rather than assisting in its resolution.

Decaro defended the region's performance, noting that Puglia's healthcare assistance ranks as the highest in Southern Italy and tenth nationally in terms of territorial, hospital, and prevention services, based on recent ministerial data.

Regarding the future of the progressive coalition, Decaro stated that the focus should remain on establishing a shared program before deciding on leadership or primary elections. He noted that while primary elections are part of the Democratic Party's DNA, the specific methods for selecting a leader will be determined by party leaders once a common program is established.
