Puglia Region announces funding for coastal protection and Taranto microcredit

The Puglia Region has launched two distinct financial initiatives aimed at regional development and environmental protection.

The Municipality of Fasano has been granted 1.2 million euros from the PR Puglia FESR-FSE+ 2021-2027 fund to combat coastal erosion. The project focuses on the Via Eroi del Mare cliff in Torre Canne, where a submerged barrier will be constructed to mitigate risks from climate change, landslides, and coastal retreat, thereby protecting local infrastructure and residents.

Additionally, a 60 million euro microcredit program, titled Finanziamento Taranto JTF 2021-2027, is now active for the Taranto territory. Funded by the Just Transition Fund, this initiative supports micro and small enterprises, self-employed workers, and professional firms. The program aims to facilitate economic and environmental transitions by funding investments in energy efficiency, renewable energy, circular economy, and digitalization. Loans range from 10,000 to 200,000 euros, structured as a combination of a zero-interest loan from Puglia Sviluppo and a conditional grant.
