Puglia rolls out 'Attrattiva' initiative to draw back talent and promote tourism
The regional government of Puglia introduced the "Puglia Attrattiva #mareAsinistra" programme, presented at information desks in the departure halls of Bari’s Karol Wojtyła airport on 16 July and Brindisi’s Salento airport on 23 July. The scheme, developed by the Consorzio Mestieri Puglia within the “Punti Cardinali for Work” programme, aims to present the region as a place to live, work and invest, encouraging former residents – students, professionals and families – to return. It highlights a network of participating municipalities, including Foggia, Taranto, Castellana Grotte, Gioia del Colle, Locorotondo, Monopoli, Putignano, Turi, Torre Santa Susanna and others, and distributes promotional material about local culture, traditions, skills and job opportunities.
A complementary guide lists ten destinations reachable within an hour’s drive from Barletta for summer visits. Highlights include the coastal city of Trani with its cathedral and historic port, the octagonal UNESCO‑listed Castel del Monte, the battlefield site at Canne della Battaglia, and the historic centre of Bisceglie together with the nearby Dolmen della Chianca. The suggestions cater to families, couples and cultural tourists seeking a mix of sea, history and rural landscape.
