Puglia signs armed security contract with €9 minimum wage guarantee

The Regional Council of Puglia signed a public‑service contract for armed security (Lot 1) in its offices, effective 1 August. The agreement sets a gross minimum wage of €9 per hour and preserves the service hours established under the previous contract.

Funding from a regional budget supplement prevented the wage increase from being passed on to workers, allowing the region to uphold its commitment to labour dignity. Councilor Loredana Capone said the deal shows that administrative rigor can coexist with strong worker protections, and she expects the same conditions to be applied to the upcoming reception‑service contract (Lot 2). The contract also acknowledges the contributions of assessor Leo and the regional commission in reaching the agreement.
