Pugliese political emigration documented in new historical research

New historical research by Giovanni Capurso and Vincenzo Catalano, titled ‘Libertà in valigia’, examines the political emigration of individuals from Puglia to the United States and France between 1892 and 1945.

Through the analysis of primary source documents and correspondence, the work highlights the experiences of those fleeing fascist oppression to seek political freedom. The research brings to light the personal struggles, ideological weights, and historical awareness of exiles, such as Giuseppe Spillone and Angelantonio Fanelli, who documented their lives and political views from abroad.
