Puka Nacua expected to play for Rams despite injury concerns

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is expected to play in the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers despite a rare psoas injury sustained during August practice. NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported that Nacua has returned to full activity without setbacks after being held out for several weeks.

Nacua’s availability comes at a critical juncture for both his career and the Rams' roster management. As he approaches free agency in 2027, analysts suggest he is a prime candidate for the franchise tag. While his market value is projected to be in the $40 million annual range, the Rams face significant salary cap constraints involving other 2023 draft picks, including Kobie Turner and Byron Young.

Following a standout 2025 season where he led the NFL in receptions, Nacua remains a central figure in the Rams' efforts to contend for a Super Bowl title.
