Pula hosts Austro-Hungarian heritage manifestation

The three-day manifestation ‘Living Pictures of Austro-Hungarian Pula’ has opened at the Pula Railway Station in Croatia. The event uses music, dance, historical reenactments, and storytelling to celebrate the city's rich heritage and its period of significant economic, demographic, and urban development under the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.

This year’s edition marks the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the railway in Pula, which historically connected the city to Trieste, Vienna, and the wider Central European region. The program, titled ‘Encounters of Worlds at the Pula Station – Stories of Istrian Railway Workers, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow’, features performances by the GrandZaro Choir and the Pula City Brass Band.

Notable guests at the opening included Archduke Sandor Habsburg-Lothringen and Gottfried O. Rieck, owner of the historic luxury train Majestic Imperator Train de Luxe. Istrian County Prefect Boris Miletić and Pula Mayor Peđa Grbin attended the event, praising the efforts of organizer Ivna Bevanda Strah in preserving and presenting the city's historical identity.
