Pulau Tidung tourism targeted as economic driver for residents
Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno expressed hope that tourism in Pulau Tidung, Thousand Islands, will serve as a primary economic driver for local residents. During a working visit on September 25, 2026, Karno emphasized that tourism development must balance economic growth with coastal ecosystem conservation.
To support this, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is involving residents in various vocational skill training programs. These include culinary processing, nail art, t-shirt printing, and barber workshops, aimed at creating new business opportunities. The initiative seeks to increase homestay occupancy, maritime transport services, and local consumer spending while maintaining environmental health through activities such as mangrove planting and waste management.
