Pulheim intersection conversion to roundabout requires full closure

The intersection of Venloer Straße, Steinstraße, and Johannisstraße in Pulheim, known locally as the ‘Kölner Tor’, is undergoing a transformation into a four-arm roundabout. To facilitate this construction, which began in August 2026, a full closure of the intersection area was required.

To manage the disruption, LöKa-Verkehrsabsicherungs GmbH implemented a traffic management concept designed to maintain access for residents, local businesses, public transport, and emergency services. The strategy involves a two-tier approach: heavy-duty and through-traffic on the L183 is diverted via large-scale detours in surrounding areas, while local traffic is guided through the Geyen district. Approximately 20 additional signs have been installed to direct motorists, and temporary parking spaces were created to support local businesses during the construction period.
