Pulse nightclub fire trial continues with forensic testimony

The trial regarding the fire at the Pulse nightclub in Kičevo, which resulted in 63 deaths and over 200 injuries, has continued with the presentation of construction forensic reports.

Goran Markovski, a judicial expert and professor at the University Ss. Cyril and Methodius, testified that the investigation revealed a total failure of institutions and individuals to follow safety standards and regulations. The forensic team found that zero fire protection measures were implemented at the facility.

Key findings from the report include a complete lack of prescribed evacuation exits. While the venue had a capacity for 363 guests, it held over 600 visitors on the night of the tragedy. Experts noted that the building lacked ventilation, causing heat to be trapped inside. Furthermore, materials used in the construction, such as strippers, were found to be flammable and emitted toxic smoke, whereas non-flammable materials like glass wool should have remained stable up to 800 degrees Celsius. The extreme heat was evidenced by the deformation of the building's steel structure.
