Puma faces financial losses and management shifts
Puma is navigating a period of financial and organizational transition. The company reported a 9.4 percent decline in currency-adjusted revenue to approximately 1.69 billion euros in the second quarter, resulting in a net loss of 72.8 million euros. This downturn is attributed to weakening wholesale business in Europe and the Americas, alongside demand pressures stemming from the Middle East conflict. Despite the loss, the gross margin rose to 48 percent due to lower purchasing costs and an improved sales mix, while free cash flow increased to 328.8 million euros.
On the leadership front, Johan Adamsson departed his role as Vice President of Global Sports Marketing & Sports Licensing on August 31. CEO Arthur Höld has assumed interim leadership of the department.
In the product sector, Puma has launched the ‘Salehe Bembury x PUMA Velum Nitro 2’ collection globally. However, market analysts, including those from JPMorgan, maintain a neutral stance as the company faces industry-wide challenges and recent stock volatility, with shares recently trading around 24 to 25 euros.
