PUMA provides equipment to women in Senegal's Toubacouta and Kédougou

The Programme d’urgence de modernisation des axes et territoires frontaliers (PUMA) has launched significant equipment donations to support women's economic empowerment in various Senegalese regions.

In Toubacouta, within the Foundiougne department, PUMA national coordinator Ndèye Marième Samb distributed equipment valued at over 23 million FCFA. The donation includes multifunctional pulpers, solar drying tables, motorized pirogues, life jackets, and protective gear such as boots and gloves. These tools are specifically intended to support women involved in oyster farming and the processing of fishery and forest products.

In the Kédougou region, PUMA mobilized 91 million FCFA to support 17 women's groups in border areas. This allocation includes equipment for processing baobab fruit, fonio, shea, honey, and the production of soap and bleach. The initiative aims to reduce labor intensity, improve productivity, and increase income by supporting local value chains in agricultural and forest resources.
