Pumas sign midfielder Sebastián Córdova for Apertura 2026
Club Universidad Nacional (Pumas) announced that 29‑year‑old midfielder Sebastián Córdova has joined the squad for the Liga MX Apertura 2026 tournament. The signing was revealed on the club’s social‑media channels on June 30, 2026, with no prior leaks.
Córdova arrives from Toluca, where he was part of the side that captured the CONCACAF Champions Cup and a Liga MX bicampeonato. He has previously played for América, Tigres, Necaxa and represented Mexico at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, winning a bronze medal. Coach Esteban Solari said Córdova will be integrated immediately to reinforce the midfield as Pumas prepare for the season opener against Pachuca on July 18 at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.
The move is intended to replace the departing Jordan Carrillo and to add creativity and depth to the team’s central areas.
