Pumas sign midfielder Victor Arteaga and outline 2026 roster priorities
Club Universidad Nacional (Pumas) confirmed the acquisition of 22‑year‑old midfielder Víctor Arteaga from Toluca ahead of the Apertura 2026 Liga MX season. After completing medical exams, Arteaga replaces César Garza, who returned from loan, and joins teammates Sebastián Córdova and Cristian “Chicote” Calderón in pre‑season preparations, including a friendly against América de Cali on 12 July at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario for the Pumas Fan Fest 2026.
The club, under coach Esteban Solari, also disclosed its transfer targets for the upcoming tournament. Priorities include signing a foreign winger, a Mexican defender, and possibly an additional foreign striker. Pumas intend to renew the contract of forward Guillermo “Memo” Martínez for at least one more year as part of the broader squad restructuring.
