Pumas UNAM and Cruz Azul face off in Liga MX rematch

Pumas UNAM and Cruz Azul are set to face each other this Sunday, October 11, at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario for Matchday 11 of the Liga MX Apertura 2026 tournament. The match serves as a rematch of the recent Clausura final, which Cruz Azul won to secure their tenth title.

Cruz Azul currently sits in seventh place with 16 points, while Pumas UNAM occupies the 12th or 13th position with 12 points. For Pumas, the match offers a chance for sporting revenge following their recent final loss. The team, led by Esteban Solari, is looking to improve its standing after recent struggles, bolstered by the return of national team players and the reappearance of ‘Chino’ Huerta.

Cruz Azul, managed by Joel Huiqui, aims to maintain its momentum and move closer to qualification. The team holds a significant record of 29 matches without defeat at Ciudad Universitaria. Key players such as José Paradela and Rodolfo Rotondi remain under medical observation following the international break.
