Monterrey takes Liga MX lead with 6-1 victory over FC Juárez

The Liga MX Apertura 2026 tournament has resumed following the Leagues Cup break. In a standout performance, Monterrey secured the top spot in the general table after a dominant 6-1 victory over FC Juárez at the Estadio BBVA. Goals for Monterrey were scored by Luca Orellano, Diego Rossi, Hugo Cuypers, Lucas Ocampos, and Orbelín Pineda. Diego Rossi led the offensive effort with one goal and two assists. FC Juárez's lone goal was scored by Óscar Estupiñán.

Other notable results from the fourth matchday include a 0-0 draw between Atlante and Toluca at the Estadio Banorte. Following the match, Toluca coach Antonio Mohamed remarked that the media is “subestimating” Atlante, noting the team's physical and well-worked style under Miguel Herrera.

In the Chilean Primera B, Unión Española climbed to fourth place in the standings after a 2-1 victory against San Marcos de Arica. Meanwhile, in the Mexican Expansion League, Dorados de Sinaloa earned a 2-2 draw against Coyotes de Tlaxcala after recovering from a two-goal deficit.

Additionally, the Leagues Cup 2026 quarter-final matchups have been set. Mexican representatives Monterrey, León, América, and Toluca will face MLS clubs in matches held in the United States between August 25 and 26. Due to tournament regulations, América and Toluca will play at neutral venues in California and New Jersey, respectively.
