Pumptrack projects underway in Vechelde and Sulzbach

New pumptrack facilities are being developed in different German municipalities. In Vechelde, construction is underway in the Wahle district to expand local leisure and sports options. The asphalt-based track is designed for use by BMX bikes, scooters, skateboards, and even wheelchairs. The project includes amenities such as parking, bicycle stands, a weather shelter, and lighting to allow for use during darker months, with an opening planned for late October.

In Sulzbach, plans are also underway to build a pumptrack on the site of a former dye factory. However, the project faces potential delays due to the condition of the ground. Previous expert reports identified localized cyanide contamination at the industrial site. While officials state the substance is water-insoluble and poses no threat to groundwater, the soil may require a 30-centimeter layer of inert material before construction can proceed.
