Pumuckl bronze sculpture discovered on Munich fountain

A small bronze figure of the character Pumuckl, holding a beer mug, has been discovered on the Wittelsbacher Brunnen in downtown Munich. The sculpture, titled ‘Durst’ (Thirst), appears to have been placed there by the Ukrainian-Hungarian guerrilla artist Mihály Kolodko several years ago.

The Munich City Building Department stated that the sculpture is known and is being tolerated. Kolodko is recognized for leaving small, often political or whimsical sculptures in various cities, including Budapest and Pula. The character Pumuckl was originally drawn by Barbara von Johnson, with stories created by Ellis Kaut.
