France legal updates: sentencing in fatal A13 crash and Magnanville retrial ordered
Several legal developments have emerged in France involving high-profile criminal cases. In Évreux, a truck driver was sentenced to five years in prison, including one year under electronic monitoring, for a 2022 collision on the A13 that killed a gendarme and injured several others.
In a separate matter, the Cour de cassation has ordered a new trial for Mohamed Lamine Aberouz. His life sentence for complicity in the 2016 Magnanville murders was overturned due to a procedural error regarding the charge of complicity in the sequestration of a minor.
Additionally, a man received a six-month suspended sentence for issuing death threats against the lawyers of Dahbia Benkired, who was convicted of the murder of Lola Daviet. The threats were made via a YouTube comment containing ballistic instructions.
