Pune aims for $220 billion economy by 2036
The Maharashtra government has outlined a vision to transform Pune into a $220-billion economy by 2036. The proposed roadmap includes 58 priority projects spanning sectors such as manufacturing, electric vehicles, engineering, defense, robotics, electronics, semiconductors, and biotechnology.
The plan aims to increase the region's economic growth rate from approximately 6–6.5% to 10% and create up to 2 million new employment opportunities. This rapid industrial growth is expected to reshape the city's residential landscape, driving demand for housing, schools, healthcare, and transportation infrastructure to support a growing population of professionals and skilled workers.
