Pune brothers booked for allegedly assaulting elderly parents over land dispute
Two brothers have been booked by police in the Indapur area of Pune district following an alleged assault on their elderly parents over a land dispute. The incident occurred on August 30 near Salim Lawns in the Tarangwadi area.
According to a police complaint filed by 65-year-old Tukaram Kisan Raut, his sons, Sanjay Tukaram Raut and Rajendra Tukaram Raut, confronted him and his wife, Anjana, regarding the sale of land registered in the mother’s name. The confrontation reportedly escalated into a physical assault where the brothers used wooden sticks to strike the couple in public.
Tukaram Raut sustained injuries to his face, back, thighs, and shoulder, while Anjana Raut suffered injuries to her waist and right wrist. A video of the incident has circulated on social media.
Indapur Police have registered a case against the two men under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Authorities have also indicated that additional legal action may be taken under laws concerning the protection and welfare of senior citizens.
