Pune IT engineer files police complaint after dispute with bike taxi driver

A 42-year-old software engineer, Pooja Deepak Saw, has filed a police complaint in Pune following a heated altercation with a bike taxi rider. The dispute reportedly began when Saw requested a specific route via Sunny's World in Sus, which the driver refused, insisting on following the app-suggested route.

The confrontation escalated at Bavdhan Bridge, where the rider allegedly forced Saw to deboard before reaching her destination in Hinjewadi. While the driver demanded payment for the journey, Saw objected to paying for a ride that was cut short. The driver recorded the argument and shared the footage on social media, leading Saw to accuse him of attempting to disparage her.

Senior Police Inspector Arvind Pawar confirmed that a non-cognisable (NC) offence has been registered regarding the incident. The event has sparked online debate concerning passenger safety and the conduct of gig economy workers.
