Pune police arrest 15 for Ganpati Visarjan robbery gang

Pune's Vishrambag Police have arrested 15 individuals for allegedly targeting devotees during Ganpati Visarjan processions. The suspects are accused of snatching gold chains, mangalsutras, and mobile phones amidst the festival crowds.

Following a 56-hour operation, investigators dismantled two separate gang modules. Police recovered stolen property valued at approximately 35 lakh rupees. The suspects have been linked to 22 criminal cases, including 19 incidents specifically within the Vishrambag area involving gold and mobile phone thefts.

Zone-1 DCP Krishikesh Rawle stated that the operation was based on strategic planning and lessons learned from previous years. The investigation team, working in plain clothes to blend into the crowds, successfully identified and apprehended the suspects across various locations.
