Pune police book house owners for renting to Yemeni nationals

Pune Police have registered cases against two house owners in the Ghorpade Peth area for allegedly renting flats to Yemeni nationals without notifying authorities. The tenants had reportedly been staying in the properties for seven to eight years with expired passports, despite restriction orders issued by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRO).

The house owners, identified as 55-year-old Khan Faheema Jabbar and 62-year-old Jabbar A. Sattar Khan, face charges at the Kondhwa police station for concealing information regarding the foreign nationals. The FRO has initiated deportation proceedings against the Yemeni individuals, and their passports have been surrendered to the authorities.

This incident follows previous enforcement actions in Pune, including the detention of several Yemeni and Afghan nationals in August and the deportation of a Yemeni family in 2022.
