Pune Police implement prohibitory orders through August 31

The Pune Police have implemented strict prohibitory orders across the Pune City Police Commissionerate area to maintain law and order during upcoming festivals, including Eid-e-Milad, Narali Purnima, and Raksha Bandhan.

Effective from midnight on August 18 until midnight on August 31, the orders—issued under Sections 37(1), 37(2), and 37(3) of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951—prohibit gatherings of five or more people, public meetings, or processions without prior permission from the Police Commissioner.

The restrictions also ban the carrying of weapons, explosives, flammable substances, or any objects capable of causing physical harm. Additionally, the police have prohibited the burning of effigies, the display of provocative images, and the use of inflammatory slogans, songs, or music in public spaces. Authorities have also warned against spreading digital content intended to cause panic, such as social media reels of criminals or threatening messages.
