Punjab AAP gains Congress members as CM Mann launches campaign

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has seen a surge in membership in Punjab as dozens of leaders and workers from the Indian National Congress joined the party in the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency. The defectors from village Nanowal cited ongoing development projects, including improvements to roads, bridges, and irrigation infrastructure, as their primary motivation for switching sides.

Simultaneously, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched a door-to-door election campaign, starting in his Dhuri constituency. The campaign focuses on a narrative termed ‘Mann Da Munafa’, which highlights the financial benefits provided to families through government initiatives such as free electricity, healthcare, and education. Mann intends to present the government’s four-and-a-half-year performance record to households across the state.
