Punjab administration denies claims of MP's exclusion from draft voter list

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 is currently underway across Punjab. In response to reports suggesting that Patiala MP Dr. Dharmveer Gandhi and his family members were missing from the draft voter list published on August 13, the administration has issued a clarification.

Officials stated that the claims are baseless and that the names of Dr. Gandhi and his family members are correctly included in the draft list for the 115-Patiala assembly constituency. The administration has urged media outlets to avoid spreading misleading or unverified information regarding the revision process.

Separately, Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha has accused the Punjab government of political bias, noting that his own voter ID was marked as ‘shifted’ in the draft list. He noted that corrections can be made during the ongoing ‘claims and objections’ phase before the final list is published in October 2026.
