Punjab aims to become IT hub with Mohali as AI center

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has stated that the state is rapidly emerging as a major information technology destination. During a meeting with a NASSCOM delegation, Mann identified Mohali as a potential leading hub for artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and Global Capability Centres (GCCs).

The state government is leveraging world-class infrastructure, a skilled talent pool, lower business costs, and the new GCC Policy of 2026 to attract technology companies and investment. Mann has invited NASSCOM to partner with the state in a startup incubator located in Mohali to strengthen the local innovation ecosystem.

Additionally, the government is working to integrate AI-driven solutions into the agricultural sector. Through collaborations with Punjab Agricultural University, IIT Ropar, and the Union Ministry of Agriculture, the state aims to deploy smart farming models, precision agriculture tools, and predictive analytics to improve farmer yields and sustainability.
