Punjab approves Rs. 8.7 billion cancer hospital in DG Khan

The Punjab government has approved the establishment of the Kulsoom Nawaz Cancer Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan. The project is estimated to cost over Rs. 8.7 billion, consisting of a capital component exceeding Rs. 3.12 billion and a revenue component of more than Rs. 5.58 billion.

Scheduled for completion by June 30, 2029, the facility aims to provide modern cancer treatment and reduce the necessity for patients in southern Punjab and surrounding areas to travel to other cities for specialised care.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by the provincial health department to expand specialised cancer services. Secretary Health Azmat Mahmood noted that work is also progressing on the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research in Lahore to further strengthen the region's healthcare infrastructure.
