Punjab authorities investigate viral video of child allegedly using drugs

A video circulating on social media, purportedly showing a child between the ages of 10 and 13 consuming drugs in the Kapurthala district of Punjab, has prompted police and medical intervention. Following the footage's viral spread, the child was admitted to a hospital and subsequently moved to a de-addiction center for treatment and medical testing to assess the extent of substance exposure.

The incident has triggered significant political backlash against the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government. Opposition leaders from the Congress party and the Shiromani Akali Dal have criticized the administration, questioning the effectiveness of current anti-drug campaigns and the state's ability to prevent narcotics from reaching minors.

Local police are investigating the circumstances of the incident to determine how the substances were obtained and to identify any individuals or groups responsible for supplying drugs to children. No suspects have been officially identified at this time.
