Punjab BJP demands justice in Ajay Atwal murder case

Former Punjab BJP president Vijay Sampla has called for the inclusion of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act provisions in the first information report (FIR) regarding the murder of Ajay Atwal in Abohar. Sampla also demanded that Shiv Lal Doda be named in the FIR.

Atwal’s family has refused to allow a post-mortem examination for a week as they protest for justice. Sampla, who visited the protest site alongside several BJP leaders, accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government of shielding the culprits. He noted that Atwal had previously served as a witness in the 2015 Bhim Tank murder case, for which Shiv Lal Doda is currently serving a life sentence.

Sampla warned that failure to deliver justice could lead to widespread mobilization across Punjab, drawing parallels to the ongoing protests for slain anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa.
