Punjab Chief Minister approves road schemes and traffic safety measures

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved several infrastructure and traffic management initiatives across the province. In Sargodha, approximately Rs1 billion has been allocated for eight development schemes under the Own Source Revenue initiative. These projects focus on the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrading of various roads, including Dairy Road, Azad Road, and the Khayam Chowk Overhead Bridge. The funding aims to improve the district’s road network and facilitate smoother traffic movement.

In Lahore, the Chief Minister has ordered the implementation of dedicated motorcycle lanes on major roads to enhance safety. The directive includes strict enforcement of traffic rules, the use of camera-based digital monitoring, and the enforcement of zebra crossings for pedestrians. Additionally, authorities have been instructed to regulate cargo tractor-trolleys to ensure they are properly covered and to address congestion at key locations such as Shahdara and Thokar Niaz Baig.
